History
exit asked for reviews of his track. I suggested I might remix it. Suddenly there was a "remix competition", which wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but it turns out to be quite interesting to have a deadline and only be able to commit a few hours to it.
Edited
I chopped about 30 seconds off the end because it refused to finish where it should have.
Genre
Progressive breaks
Status
This is the 5th take overall. Fully improvised structure so we have the usual problems with flow and length, a sequencer jump due to an improv loop change (that really bugs me, it should NOT happen), using the wrong reverb, forgetting the flanger, and a thousand and one other niggly things. Actually I'm delighted with the quality of this track considering the minimal time spent on it.

Remake of an original by XDVR (www.xdvr.co.uk), aka user 'exit' on Monochrome. All production, remix and additional material by Ben Wheeler. Breakbeat influenced by Hybrid.
How-I-Remix
Lacking any means of sampling or otherhow using verbatim pieces or sounds from the original track, my method of remixing is simple: I listen to it a few times, then write a new track in which you might be able to discern some similar elements (some of which might require an extreme leap of lateral deduction). This is also known as the Aphex Twin Method.

Production-Notes
This version is transposed so that the 1-note bassline hits the sweet spot on my speakers. I shouldn't have done that, it's affected the feel of the track and the bass is now below the range of most systems. Next version will put it back.
